Why Is No One Talking About Post Incarceration Syndrome?

The other night I was out on the balcony, getting some fresh air and just, thinking. I’ve recently started to get into researching the school-to-prison pipeline, when I came across this article online about Post Incarceration Syndrome (PICS). Quick breakdown, (to avoid going too far into detail), PICS is a mixed mental disorder with four clusters of symptoms: Institutionalized / Antisocial Personality Traits Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Social-Security Deprivation Syndrome Reactive Substance Use Disorder Again, not going into specific detail about any of those, but you should definitely check out the article when you get a chance. After reading over it, I started to think about myself and my jail experiences. I had never really thought about it until now, but to me it explained a lot. See, before I started on my little “outlaw” run, I wasn’t the way I am now. Meaning I wasn’t a homebody. Before I was out every weekend or chance I could get to go out. Didn’t matt...

Who's Really Reforming Healthcare in America?

After trying to figure out where I was going to go with the follow up to What's Happening To Our Black Men , I checked a few of my social media feeds and I found it. Health Care! Healthcare is a major topic that’s currently going on right now and I thought I’d give my take on it. So with that being said, let’s get into it shall we?!?! My thoughts started me with Moses and the striking of the rock at the Waters of Meribah (Num 20) . Now, quick summary. This passage is most known for the being the cause of Moses not being able to enter into the Promised Land. Within the first month of being in the wilderness, the people got upset with Moses because they had no food or water. They even ask him why would he bring them into the wilderness to die (v.4) .They were almost ready to kill this man! At this point, Moses and his brother Aaron, manage to sneak away from the people. They had to go pray about it lol. God then tells Moses, “Take the staff, and assemble the congregati...

AmeriKKKa's Attack on the Black Community

After hearing about the Philando Castile verdict, and given the current state that the United States is in, I was confused. Is this what really had come too? How has the African-American community fallen so low, as to be BLATANTLY MURDERED ON-CAMERA , and the killer still walk away? Where has the fight gone!? Baffled and confused myself, I went deep into prayer. I wanted some answers and with no solid black leadership to turn to, there was only one source I could think of. God. Now, this entry may be a little longer than most, but there’s some things that need to be said. HIS response to my question …..???? Float with me on this. “Founded in 1866, the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) extended into almost every southern state by 1870 and became a vehicle for white southern resistance to the Republican Party’s Reconstruction-era policies aimed at establishing political and economic equality for blacks.” The path to my answer sent me directly to my bible. Jesus was the subject, the cru...
